P. Meyer
Law Clerk
Mr. Meyer began working as a law clerk for DarrowEverett
LLP during his second year at The Roger Williams University
School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island. He is scheduled
to graduate in May 2008, and plans to take the Rhode
Island and Massachusetts Bar Exams in July 2008. Prior
to joining the firm, he was actively involved in several
law-related internships and activities.
The Summer following Mr. Meyer’s first year
of law school he worked as an intern for a candidate
for the office of Rhode Island’s Attorney General,
where his responsibilities included drafting position
papers, serving on the Steering Committee, and analyzing
and drafting rate reduction complaints to be filed
with the Rhode Island Commission of Public Utilities
and Carriers. During the Fall of his second year of
law school, Mr. Meyer interned for a law firm where
his responsibilities included doing analysis and drafting
legal memorandums on land use and appellate procedure
at the local government level. Also at this time,
Mr. Meyer began working on a pro bono collaborative
between his law school and a large international law
firm to examine ways in which land trust models could
be used to expand the availability of affordable housing
in Rhode Island. His responsibilities on this project
included analyzing the relevant laws, both in Rhode
Island and nationwide, and drafting potential legislation
which utilized deed covenants as a means to create
condominium units that would remain affordable in
perpetuity. While in law school, he founded the school’s
first student organization focusing on real estate
law and is actively involved in The Providence Preservation
Society.
The Rhode Island Supreme Court, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, the Connecticut Supreme Court and the Vermont Supreme Court license their respective lawyers in the general practice of law, but do not license or certify any lawyer as an expert or specialist in any field of practice.
