Overview

James G. Atchison is Of Counsel in the Restructuring and Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Groups. Jim concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, receivership, and insolvencies; loan workouts; business reorganization and restructuring; and creditors and debtors’ rights matters. Jim also handles a wide range of complex commercial and business litigations and disputes, including construction, securities, M&A, bankruptcy, and partnership disputes.

Jim regularly counsels individuals and business lenders, borrowers, employers, insurance carriers, financial institutions, institutional investors, and bondholders regarding bankruptcy, receivership, and out-of-court reorganizations; employment litigation; business disputes and dissolutions; and distressed entity/debt restructuring, sales and acquisitions.

Prior Experience

Before joining the DarrowEverett team, Jim worked as an attorney for two Rhode Island based firms. In those roles, Jim served as a court-appointed receiver of real estate and operating businesses in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and counsel to the Special Master in connection with the operation and sale of Landmark Medical Center; managed bankruptcy and receivership sales and liquidation of numerous businesses; represented borrowers and lenders in loan workouts and out-of-Court restructurings, represented construction contractors, businesses and government agencies in corporate, and state, federal, and bankruptcy court litigation matters; and successfully litigated real estate sales, auctions, ship foreclosures, bankruptcy preference proceedings, and fraudulent transfer actions.
