Joan Toro is a Partner in the Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Her focus is on complex commercial litigation, business law, and commercial real estate. Joan has more than 20 years of experience representing a wide array of clients, including individuals, sole proprietors, startups, and business owners in federal and state court, as well as before arbitration tribunals throughout the United States. Additionally, with a strong background in hospitality, Joan routinely advises entrepreneurs and small businesses during their early stages of formation, including negotiation of complex commercial leases, franchise agreements, equipment leases, private placement offerings, and all other necessary documentation to finance, open and operate small businesses throughout New York, including restaurants, spas, and similar endeavors.
Before joining the DarrowEverett team, Joan served as General Counsel at a New York City Hospitality firm whose specialty was in curating and building upscale food markets, restaurants, and lounges. In addition, she was a partner at a boutique New York City law firm representing clients in real estate, zoning litigation, land use, commercial leasing, real estate related disputes, and hospitality matters.
